New BlackBerry OS 6 Preview Highlights Media

With a badly-needed OS update coming, RIM shows off features that have not previously been the focus of its mobile computing phones.

Enterprise Mobile Today has a report on yet another update from Research In Motion, showing off the multimedia features of BlackBerry OS 6. RIM was once the leader in the smartphone market but has since taken a shellacking from the multimedia-rich iPhone and Android operating systems. Will this help restore some luster to BlackBerry?


Research in Motion has posted another blog update with screenshots of its forthcoming BlackBerry OS 6, this time emphasizing something the BlackBerry is not known for supporting: rich-media content consumption.

RIM (NASDAQ: RIMM) has said it would ship the OS this quarter, and the Twitter hashtag #BB6iscoming seems to tease that it's coming soon. The company has given out previews of the forthcoming operating system before.
